Profile

Anna Perlin

Painting has been a passion from an early age and although I trained in Textile Design, graduating in 2001, there was never any competition once I discovered the texture and life in oils. Texture is an important part of all my paintings as life is never flat, and using a palette knife to put paint onto the canvas keeps my work free.

Painting what I love and enjoy is very important to me as it adds another dimension to my work, and the British countryside and portraits are continuing themes. Although they may seem at opposites, for me they compliment each other, providing constant challenges and inspiration.

Growing up deep in the heart of Oxfordshire, I have always had a love of the outdoors and nature and I try to reflect this in my landscape paintings which are often free from human presence. I don’t use a set colour palette, preferring to mix new colours for each painting to convey the ever changing British seasons and weather, and to create a window onto the calm and peace of the country side.

I started painting portraits to capture the faces I loved around me, and now enjoy the challenge of putting the life of the person into the paint.

My work has been exhibited throughout the UK including The London Art Fair, Affordable Art Fairs and Mall Galleries.
