Lots of you are turning to creative activities whilst at home so I thought I'd share some of my collage methods which might help inspire a bit of different creativity when you've exhausted some of the regular ones!
If you're an artist finding it hard to concentrate on your usual work with everything going on, or new to being creative, using collage is a great way to make artwork, and also great for kids.
I use fabric (yes that pic really is all my fabric!!). Woven is best as it doesn't stretch so much and I just use normal pva glue on a solid base. Thick paper, mount board, canvas, wood - all work fine. I also use magazines and @gardens_ illustrated is a favourite for the gorgeous pictures but I've also been known to rip pages I liked from mags in the dentists and stuff them in my bag....😁 I use paint under, between and over the collage but you dont have to. There's no right or wrong way to make a collage, and it can deliberately make subjects abstract so you don't need to be a perfectionist, and colour choices are part of the process but you can change your mind before committing to them.
Enjoy experimenting! X
(Pic is my fabric store, magazine tears and a pic using these collage techniques)

Working on a little bit of escapism at the moment. Difficult times for everyone but it's important to try and keep some of the things you enjoy close and painting has always been my happy place. I'm stocking up on art supplies, never mind the loo roll!
